The Future of Family Law: Ketan Soni on Human Advocacy in a Digital Era

This year’s Family Law Intensive CLE delivered a dynamic and forward-thinking program designed to help practitioners navigate the rapidly evolving intersection of family law and technology. Attendees explored how to both use artificial intelligence effectively and recognize when it’s being used—skills that are becoming essential in modern legal practice.
A standout feature of the program was the interactive afternoon of hands-on learning. Presentations moved beyond the podium, encouraging participants to dive directly into tools and applications. Lawyers were urged to bring their laptops or tablets and actively engage with the technology shaping today’s legal landscape.
Even with a focus on AI, the fundamentals were not overlooked. Sessions covered practical strategies for presenting evidence in equitable distribution, alimony, and child custody cases, with and without expert witnesses. Speakers also addressed the growing challenges surrounding the enforceability of agreements in an increasingly mobile society.

One of the highlights of the program was a compelling presentation by our partner, Ketan Soni. His session explored how attorneys can preserve the uniquely human elements of judgment, empathy, and advocacy while integrating AI tools into their practice. Ketan emphasized the importance of maintaining professional intuition and ethical awareness—particularly as technology becomes more deeply embedded in case strategy, evidence preparation, and communication with clients.
